Getting healthy in Kentucky!

Great things are happening. Bad things are happening.

+ I BOUGHT THE SAMSUNG GALAXY 4G AND SWITCHED TO T-MOBILE! :D

- My wisdom tooth is KILLING me. Pain reliever isn’t helping anymore. It’s made me feel sick all over. Thankfully I’m going to the dentist tomorrow morning. I’ve never had a wisdom tooth extracted before, but I know it puts you out for a few days. I really hope that doesn’t interfere with my 10K this coming Saturday…

- *TMI ALERT. FEMALE BODY ISSUES TALKED ABOUT AFTER THIS POINT.* Shark week has begun. I wonder if that’s why I’ve been craving junk food for the past week? Maybe I’m just looking for an excuse for my food relapse. *TMI ALERT OVER.*

I know I’ve been awful at updating and I’m sorry. I’m going to try to get back in the swing of things soon, but I haven’t been feeling great and my schedule has been thrown off. I’ve still put in some really great workouts this week and my eating hasn’t been THAT bad, but still. I’m all out of whack. Hopefully I’ll be back to normal in a week.

WiW, March Goal Addendum, & Race update!

Last week’s weight: 153.0

This week’s weight: 153.6

Total gain/lost: +.06

Weight as of 2/2/11: 156.2

Weight as of 3/2/11: 153.6

Total gain/lost in Feb. 2011: -2.6

That means my February goal of losing 5 lbs was not achieved. I don’t see that as a failure though. I still lost weight. I’ve refined my exercise routine. I had a food relapse last week, but I’m back on the right track as of yesterday. March is going to be a great month for me!

Oh, and for the record I’ve decided to change my March goal of losing weight to reaching the 140’s. That means I need to lose at least 3.7 lbs this month. I know I can do it.

AND I registered for the next leg in the Triple Crown Races: the Rhodes City Run 10k! MY FIRST 10K OMG.

Blogging fail!

I honestly haven’t been a great blogger this past week. That kind of ties into my ‘relapse’. I’ve checked in on my dash here and there, but I have a lot to catch up on.

I still need to put my “first race” story up. I’ll try to get that done tomorrow.

This is just a post acknowledging my blog fail and promising that I’ll do better!

FEBRUARY GOAL RECAP & MARCH GOALS

FEBRUARY 2011 GOALS

  • Continue going to the gym Mon - Sat without missing any days I didn’t technically complete this goal, but I feel like I improved it. When I set this goal I was simply putting in an hour of cardio on the elliptical, 6 days a week. Now my routine is different — and better! I’m doing Yogalates 2 days a week, which is strengthening my muscles and keeping me stretched and limber. I’m strength training on the weekend. AND I’m running! Races, even! I feel good about the changes I made in my exercise routine this month.
  • Lose 5 lbs We’ll see tomorrow. I could’ve weighed in yesterday to record my official ~end of February~ weight, but I didn’t.
  • Try at least one Yogalates class Tried it. Loved it! I’m now going every Tuesday and Thursday.

MARCH 2011 GOALS

  • Run another race. I plan on registering for the next race in the Triple Crown Races: Rodes City Run 10k
  • Lose weight. Any amount would be great, but I’d really like to shed another 5 lbs.
  • Start cooking more. This ties into my next goal, which is…
  • Eat healthier. I’ve kind of relapsed food wise. It’s been going on for about a week now. I started giving in to a craving here…and then a craving there…and now I’m falling hard into old habits. I’ve been asking myself that familiar question again: Is this kind of food really making me happy? Like…is it THAT good? Good enough for me to blow my entire day’s worth of calories on nutrient dense food that leaves me with the munchies constantly? It’s NOT worth it. I can do better. My body deserves better. I deserve better.

WiTh

I couldn’t help myself. I weighed in this morning.

Last week’s weight: 153.0

This week’s weight: 153.0

Total gain/loss: 0.00

Awesome!

I’m going to Yogalates tonight. I’m really looking forward to it because I missed Tuesday’s class due to my Fuck-You-IRS celebration.

I’m going to the bank in a few minutes to pay off a car that I’ve been paying on for six years. The entire situation is bittersweet. At least it’ll be over with. :/

It’s hard to organize Tumblr blogs by topic. A single one of your blogs may include your personal updates, your art, your opinions, and a YouTube video of a cat speaking Japanese, all in a single day. This has been a real limitation of the current Tumblr Directory. So, for the last few weeks we’ve been experimenting with some brand new tools for exploring Tumblr.

The new Explore page organizes and filters posts by tag. This means that every tagged post has a chance to show up in front of an audience of millions that might not otherwise see it. Think Tumblr Radar by topic.

Up top, the Tumblr Wire makes a return, pulling in featured posts in realtime. Below is a list of popular and trending tags (currently English only, with more languages coming soon). You can also Track these tags to get notifications on your Dashboard when a new post is featured.

Make sure to tag your posts where relevant to help more people find you. You can still look up any tag using the search box on your Dashboard.

We’ve already started finding posts and following blogs that we had no idea existed. Please give it a spin!

We ALREADY had the ability to search for all posts with a certain tag and tracking said tags. BRING BACK THE DIRECTORY.

No WiW this week!

I’ve decided not to weigh in this week. The past week has thrown me a few curve balls and I’ve deviated from my healthy eating for the past 3 days and taken 2 rest days from the gym back-to-back. I’d rather not depress myself by seeing a much expected gain. I’ll just get back on the horse and weigh in next Wednesday.

So what’s thrown me for a loop, you might ask? Or might not ask, but I’m telling you anyway.

  • Sunday I went to visit family in Bowling Green. Grandma Margaret’s food was consumed. It was delicious. It was hard to track calories. I did jog/walk 3.9 miles at Bernheim Forest though!
  • Monday Robbie and I were invited to a cabaret by my mother. They served us pizza. Calories were tracked as best I could, but I didn’t make it to the gym so I felt like I cheated anyway.
  • Yesterday was a totally normal day until I got home from work. I’d eaten well and planned on going to Yogalates at 7:00. Then I got the mail. WE FINALLY GOT OUR $8,000 FIRST-TIME HOME BUYERS CREDIT! We’ve been waiting on this since APRIL OF LAST YEAR. Almost an entire freaking year! It’s been such a long and stressful experience (I swear I’ve called the IRS at least 30 times about this check and each time has made me want to bash my head against the wall) and it’s finally OVER. Of course, we had to celebrate. So we went to Cheddar’s and I ordered a fricken’ bacon cheeseburger with fries and ranch dressing. There, I said it. AND we ordered loaded potato skins. To be fair, I couldn’t even finish half of my burger. I got full on the potato skins. BUT. It was glorious and I’d rather not think about its nutritional value. Also, I didn’t work out, so…

Realistically my weigh-in may not be as bad as I think, but I’d rather hold off just in case. I feel like I’ve let myself go, even though it’s only been 3 days of non-routine. After reflecting on them I realize that they really weren’t that bad, but I’d still like to wait until I’m feeling back to normal.

5k practice run: COMPLETE.

Weird day. I don’t feel much like updating, but at the same time I want to document the day.

It took a lot of time for me to get going this morning. I pretty much laid around until about 1:00, then I got up, showered, dressed and headed to the gym. I went inside, hopped on a treadmill, stood there uncertainly for about 15 seconds and then turned around and left. I didn’t want to exercise indoors. It’s a little cool today, but it’s perfect running weather.

I came home and picked up Robbie and the dogs and we all went to Bernheim Forest, something I’ve been wanting to do for weeks.

Robbie was on dog duty. He had no intention of running with me. There’s a path around the lake that’s 1.3 miles long. With determination, I jogged it.

The path consists of all different types of terrain: gravel, pavement, wood, dirt, hills to climb, roots to avoid, people and dogs to maneuver around. I hadn’t even finished my first lap before the doubt crept in.

What in the HECK were you thinking committing to a 5k? This is HARD. Don’t you think you should’ve tried to run this outside before plunking down a non-refundable $25 registration fee? What are you going to do if you can’t finish 3 laps around this lake? Will you even bother showing up to the race? Are you letting yourself down this soon? Before it’s even started?

Yes, I talk to myself in the 3rd person. Or is that 2nd person? I don’t know.

Anyway…I jogged it. *TMI ALERT*I jogged it until I puked. (I managed to avoid projection, but I definitely threw up in my mouth at the end.)*TMI ALERT OVER*

I walked the last half of my 3rd lap, but I went a full 3.9 miles.

It was hard. SO hard. But I did it. And I’m going to do it again next Saturday. No doubt.

I’m going to Bowling Green tonight with my siblings to celebrate family birthdays. I’ve only eaten 3 boiled eggs and 1 graham cracker today (I know, I know, that’s so bad), but I plan on indulging in some good southern cooking tonight so I’ll definitely meet my calorie goal.

I may not have done much, but I definitely consider the day a major success.
